A Noel,

Gura maith agat as do litir 14 Márta a fuair mé inniú.

Cé nách fhragraíonn sé an cheist deineann sé an pictiúr níos soiléara dom.

Ó fhreagra a fuair an teachta Pádraic MacCormaic dúirt an Aire Dempsey gur thug a Roinn €41,173 don chomhlucht COM1 chun "Business Broadband Service" a sholathar don ceantair. Go bhfios dom níl an seirbhís seo ag dul níos faide siar ná Baile an tSagairt ar an Spidéal.

Tá mise i limistéar Cásla ach ní féidir le héinne a rá liom an mbeinn i ndán an seirbhís DSL a fháil ón malartán sin nó an bhfuil mé ró fhada uaidh.

An bhfuil aon eolas agat faoi sin nó an féidir leat ainm duine éigin in Éircom a thabhairt dom go ndéanfainn fiosrú faoi mé féin.

Gura míle maith agat arís.

Le meas ort

Eoin Ó Riain

Dear Noel,

Thank you for your recent letter regarding the provision of broadband in Connemara.

The agreement for the provision of broadband in the Cois Fharraige area is between the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources and the service providers COM1 under the Group Broadband Scheme. Údarás na Gaeltachta neither received nor gave a grant for the provision of this service.

There is broadband connectivity in An Spidéal, Indreabhán is to come on-stream in the near future and the Casia and An Cheathrú Rua exchanges will be upgraded to DSL in the near future. However, there continues to be some areas which fail between exchanges some of which include companies and business grant-aided by Údarás na Gaeltachta. We are using our best endeavours to have this issue addressed.

I understand tbere is some misunderstanding about this as a resuit of a letter which was circulated to a number of people, myself included. The individual who sent the letter has also to my knowledge circulated a clarification regarding same.

Beir bua,
Pádraig Ó hAoláin
