Independent candidate, Seosamh Ó Cuaig had 85 canvassers in bis team ranging in age from 84 so seven years.
Eighty four years old Pat Mháire Val Ó Donnehil from An Áird Mhóir, Cama spent two days canvassing. In 1932, he lit a bonfire to celebrate Eamon de Valera's victory.
Seven years old Mairéad Ní Neachtain from Loch Con Aortha enjoyed every minute of her eight hour stint with her parents on the canvas!

Ó Cuaig defiant
The Independent County Councillom Seosamh Ó Cuaig was in defiant form after his re-election to the Údarás na Gaeltacbta board.

He said that the Govemnment parties had tightened tbeir grip on the Údarás. "But this does not mean that I will be meekly accepting the policies dictated by Messrs Ó Cuiv and
McDowell.
The fact is I am now the only elected opposition within the Galway Gaeltacht, an opposition witb considerable community support. He was especially critical of what he termcd "the absurdity" where half of those elected to the Udarás board for the Galway Gaeltacht came from predominantly English-speaking areas.
