ROAD PROPOSAL
Councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig has said that the proposai that a new top-ciass road shouid be developed from west Connemara
to Gaiway city 110W has the full backing of the County Councild's roads committee. The matter was again discussed at length
as a meeting of the County Council Roads and Transportation committee last week. Councillor Ó Cuaig is the Chairman of this committee.
Councillor Ó Cuaig said that the Director of Services for Roads in Galway was to discuss the preparation of a preliminary
plan for the Connemara Road Project with Department of the Environment staff at the
earhest opportunity.
Councillor O Cuaig said that the plan must ensure that the Connemara Road Project will take in a route from west Connemara
to the city.
"We must ensure that Ros a MhíI harbour is in the plan, but we must also realise that there are other important marine
industries much further west in Connemara. We cannot end the road in Ros a Mhíl" he said.
The proposed Connemara Road Project has now been included on the County Development Board's list of
priorities. This was decided at a meeting in Clarinbridge on Tuesday.
