BROADBAND
A public meeting about Broadband services in Connemara will be held in Maam Cross on the 8th of June at 7.30 p.m. This was announced at last
Monday's Galway County Council meeting following some crossfire between Councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig and the Director of Services for Community
Affairs, Frank Dawson.
Councillor Ó Cuaig told Mr Dawson that it was "not good enough" that a date for this meeting had not been arranged
already. "We had promises before that a date would be fixed", Seosamh ÓCuaig said. "The matter has been discussed by
the County Council and by Údarás na Gaeltachta since then and we need the meeting."
At the end of the County Council meeting, Mr Dawson came back and said he had now arranged the meeting for Maam Cross
on the 8th of June.

CONNEMARA ROAD
Councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig said this week that he was
surprised to hear that Minister Éamon Ó Cuiv has been meeting the
NRA this midweek about roads in Connemara without Connemara County
Councillors having been informed.
Councillor Ó Cuaig said that Minister Ó Cuiv wrote to the National Roads Authority in February of this year requesting a meeting
with the Authority about thedevelopment of roads in Connemara. Minister O Cuiv had told the NRA that he wanted to have Connemara Councillors and members of the f4dar89s na Gaeltachta Board at that
meeting.
"Minister Ó Cuiv made his request to the NRA following a strong campaign, backed by
Connemara County Councillors for a major road from west Connemara to Galway city. It is very clear now that such a road is needed!".
Councillor Ó Cuaig, who is Chairman of the Galway County Council Roads policy committee said he was not informed about this week's meeting
and other Connemara Councillors heard nothing about it either.
