POLITICIANS GATHER!
The Connemara Pony Show again proved to be a popular hunting ground for many politicians this year. Minister of State Frank Fahey opened the 8lst Show officially at the splendidly sunny grounds beside the Owenglen River. Had he needed any help doing the job, that help was at hand. Other public representatives on the balcony at the Showgrounds included - Pádraig McCormack, T.D., MEP Marian Harkin, former MEP Mark Killilea, NoeI Grealish, T.D., County Councillors Seosamh Ó Cuaig, Connie Ní Fhatharta, Thomas Welby and Josie Conneely.
There were reports that some budding politicians were spotted in the undergrowth but that they kept a low profile in case of being trampled on by fuIl-blooded horses 83or, indeed, by fuilblooded politicians.
