MONEY FOR BRIDGE

It is proposed that €50,OOO be set aside from the European funds in 2006 for finishing the work on the new bridge at Inniúr - between CilI Chiaráin and Ros Muc. Work has already got underway on the new bridge but the job is expected to go well into next year. The bridge was found to be unsafe two years ago and a temporary bridge has been in place since early last year. While County Councillors welcome the building of the bridge they say it is unfortunate that the money cornes out of the roads fund. "I think we should have another fund for bridges," Councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig said. "For instance, the Council management will claim that big money is being spent on the R. 340 in 2006 because of the amount going into this bridge. But that money is doing nothing for the road itself."
