Cá bhfuil Doire Inbhir?

Tá droichead breá nua tógtha ar an teorainn idir Ros Muc agus Carna. Droichead nua Inbhir - nó an é? D'aon léim amháin tá comhartha curtha suas ann a deir gurb é seo Droichead Dhoire Inbhir. Níl a leithéad d'áit sa duthaigh sin. "Cén bhrí atá leis seo nó cé a shocraigh go mbeadh a leithéid d'ainm baistithe ar Dhroichead Inbhir?" a d'fhiafraigh an Comhairleoir Seosamh Ó Cuaig. Níl aon fhreagra ar an gceist sin ó fheidhmeannaigh Chomhairle Chontae na Gaillimhe.

Tá áit ar a dtugtar Doire Inbhir thiar leath bhealaigh idir Leitir Fraic agus Crosaire na Tulaí agus tá droichead ansin. Níl a fhois an ndeachaigh an Comhairle Chontae amú idir Doire Inbhir agus Droichead Inbhir nó cén small a tháinig orthu. Ach, níl aon Doire Inbhir in Inniúr agus caithfear an comhartha a chrocadh chun bealaigh, a deir an Comhairleoir Ó Cuaig.

Road sign crux

Galway County Council has baptized the new bridge on the boundry between the parishes of Carna and Ros Muc. It used to be Droichead Inbhir or Inver Bridge. Now it is droichead Dhoire Inbhir that would translate into "Derry Inver". The copuncil has now proudly displayed the new sign on the fine new bridge.

"No good" says Councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig. "There's no such plave as Doire Inbhir in this place."

Councillor Ó Cuaig said it must be a mistake and that Galway County Council should take away the sign and put the proper old name of the bridge in place. That would be droichead Inniúir as it is pronounced locally. However there is a Derry Invir bridge on the road between Letter Frack and Tullycross.

Was it the wrong sign for the wrong bridge?
