SEWERAGE SCHEMES
Galway County Council is due to debate the
funds for sewerage schemes at Monday's meeting. The debate will centre
on a reported €10,0O0 per bouse limit that is being placed on
sewerage scbemes in rural towns and villages. Tberefore a village witb
about 60 bouseswould only qualify for a grant of €6OO,000 when it
could cost €l.5m. to get tbe job done.
Any limits like that could seriously affect, or stop, sewerage
developments in some villages in Connemara. This matter bas been
higblighted by Councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig. Councillor Ó Cuaig and
Councillor Tomás Mannion from Caltra agreed to seek a debate at Monday's
meeting.
