A recycling centre is to be provided in the Connemara Gaeltacht this year.
A site has been purchased by Galway County Council from f3daras na Gaeltachta in Casia for the purpose.
Jim Cullen, Director of Services for the Environment with the Council, has confirmed that the Casla site is being earmarked as a location for a recycling facility that would service Connemara.
News of this was welcomed at a recent Council meeting by Councillors Seosamh Ó Cuaig and Séan Ó Tuairisg.
As the site has just been bought, plans for the facility is at a preliminary stage, councillors were told.
