Infrastructure Corridor
The chairman of the Connemara group of County Councillors, Seán Ó Tuairisg, has proposed that an "infra structure corridor" be set aside from Galway to through Connemara.
Councillor Ó Tuairisg made the proposai at a meeting of Galway County Council. He said that this corridoor was urgently needed as it seemed that SACs and environmental designations were holding up vital infrastructure such as electricity unes and the new Connemara road.
Councillor Ó Tuairisg said that the importance of this corridor had had come to light again as resuit of controversy about the different routes being proposed for the new Connemara road.
"The place to put it is north of towards the mountain", Seán Ó Tuairisg said "but it appears that SACs would come in the way unless we have a dedicated corridor". Councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig supported the proposai and said that there were up to 600,000 areas of in the ConnemaraSAC and that there would be a huge amount left after allowing for the corridor.
